Best February on record for Holmwood

A marked increase in sales for the Harcourts Holmwood group shows renewed activity in the residential property market.

There might be a lot of negativity in the media about sales figures for the year, but Harcourts Holmwood know the truth lies in hard facts and figures. The data released for the month has uncovered their best February to date since 2005, based on confirmed sales.

"Holmwood written sales in February 2009 show an increase of 20.9% compared to February 2008," says Rosa Carter-Holt, General Manager. The number of sales in February did not come as a surprise, with agents seeing renewed activity in general. "The numbers of open home visitors, multi-offers and auctions being brought forward and sold under the hammer have all increased."

There has also been a noticeable increase in the number of cash buyers in the marketplace. This may be due to low interest rates offered by all the big banks. "Cash buyers are indicated by the auction success rate, and buyers making good use of mortgage brokers to ascertain their financial position and budget prior to going shopping," say Carter-Holt.

It is expected that March sales figures will also be on the rise compared to recent months.
